Fruit Stand

We love Saturdays around our home. Family time is the best time. Just ask Ethan - he'll tell you all about it. We have a fruit stand just a few miles from our house, and one reason we love spring/summer is that we get to go whenever we want. We are so lucky.

Ethan and Billy were so excited for their ice cream. I, on the other hand, was so excited for fresh, organic produce! It's the small things in life.

You can't see it well, but Ethan and Billy got to race cars on the outdoor tables at the Fruit Stand.

Not sure you're aware of this, but it is necessary to eat every. last. bite. of your ice cream and ice cream cone. I miss the days where he would let me eat the cone.

Mmmm.. fresh avocados and berries. I can't be the only one obsessed with avocados, right?

Home Study

Since I have kept everyone updated on EVERYTHING adoption, I'm sure you know we recently had our home study. I was so nervous, I was sick for a day and a half. Needless to say, I'm so glad it's over.

What's weird, is we had to childproof our home for the first time ever. Ethan has never been super curious about what's under the sink, or sticking stuff in the plugs. So you can see why we would find it funny to be childproofing after already having a child for so many years!

Ethan helping Dad to make our place safer for a new baby. He's the best.

Taya ..Oh, and our Anniversary

This month has been the COOLEST. I had two of my sisters come visit me. I wrote about Kenzi a few posts back. Well, Taya (my 14-year-old sister) came to visit, and we had a BLAST. We are both music freaks, so we spent the entire time playing the piano, singing, and generally terrorizing our neighbors with our constant noise-making.

We tried to see Monsters University, but it was SOLD OUT. What?? We ended up seeing it the next day, but decided to let Ethan ride some mall rides as a small consolation. Turns out Ethan was sort of terrified.

We decided to check out some of the mall candy. Have you ever noticed how candy is SO MUCH BETTER when it comes out of unsanitary-never-cleaned vending jars?

We found some of Ethan's heroes. He was so excited, he had to pick his nose.

He's so. done. smiling for the camera. He hides it REALLY WELL, though. As you can see..

This is criminal, but I think this is the only picture I have of my sister the entire time she stayed here! This DOES capture our personalities well, though. I'm the crazy one wanting a weirdo picture, and she's just along for the ride.

This also happened to be our anniversary. It was wonderful. We got to spend it with the people we loved, and I got to go home with the person I love the most. Being married is the coolest. If you haven't tried it yet, you should. It's like having a slumber party every night. EVERY. NIGHT.

Reptile Day

Our local Reptile Man recently put on a show at our library. Okay, full disclosure - I LOVE animals, and I MAY have been more excited about this than my 4-year-old. Sue me.

I snapped tons of pictures, but most of them are poor quality due to my iPhone permanently replacing my actual camera. Thanks a lot, Steve Jobs.

I have some GREAT friends, who got to the library early enough to get our kids FRONT ROW SEATS. I couldn't have been more excited if it was a Martina McBride concert. I mean, a Rolling Stones concert. Right..
This was Ethan right before he got the PANTS scared off him. The Reptile Man kept swinging snakes' tails at the kids' heads in the front row. Ethan ended up sitting on my lap and cuddling with me for the remainder of the show. Can't say I can complain about that.

I had to include a picture of this Awesome Dude. I forget his name, but if my child wasn't so scared of him, I'd think seriously about hiring him for his birthday party.
Look how brave that little girl is! This is called The Britney Spears.

Scavenger Hunt

Billy and I love to hike; however, we have a 4-year-old that most definitely feels otherwise. So, we have to improvise. Before we go hiking, we make a list of things we'd like to see (trees, flowers), and then we bring our handy dandy ...... NOTEBOOK!

When we find the objects we're looking for, he then either writes the first letter, or draws what he's seen. It's so entertaining to see how his imagination works. Sadly, I think he has picked up my drawing skills. ..Or lack thereof.

There are NOT ENOUGH photos of us two together, so I decided to take a quick snapshot - or 3. This is the best one. You're welcome.

We have to bring the stroller for when Ethan's legs get "tired" - which is code for "bored." It also works nicely for a mini desk for his science journal.

Pool Baby

I can't accept the fact that Ethan isn't a baby anymore, which is why I shall always refer to him as "baby." Get used to it. The best thing to do on a hot summer day? The pool, of course.

His favorite thing to do? Harass me to put goggles on him just so he can take them off 2 minutes later. And THEN repeat.

More Kenzers

We had so much fun when Kenzi was here. She's so pleasant to have around. As promised, we ate lots of good food, she slept a LOT (I forget what it's like to be childless), and gabbed until all hours of the night.

Ethan is terrified of swinging by himself, but apparently he'll swing on my lap. I loved this brief moment to cuddle with my baby. Even though he's VERY quick to remind me that he is NOT a baby anymore.

I took Kenzi and Ethan on a little hike up the hill next to our house so we could have some fun under the cherry trees. Well, the stupid owner of the orchard decided to build a stupid fence, so we didn't get to hang out under the trees, but we still had some fun blowing bubbles.

Kenzers

Guess who's visiting??

This girl!

I can wait to eat tons if good food, (Force her to) play games, and watch movies with my 22-year-old little sis. I love being a big sister!
